In September of 2017, Hurricane Irma made landfall in south Florida, and although Florida is no stranger to major storms, Irma was particularly brutal. One of the more heartbreaking aspects of the damage was a power outage at a nursing home, in Hollywood, that resulted in the death of 12 residents who were not evacuated due to the rising heat.
